Tiroler Hut

Donation protected
Early on the morning of the 12th of August, we received the devastating news that our family restaurant, The Tiroler Hut, was on fire, and that the prognosis looked bleak.

Unfortunately, nothing is left of the Hut bar, of course, the memories that so many of you have kindly sent to the [email redacted] account.

Many of them spanned its 52 years at 27 Westbourne Grove with Josef at the helm, and while reading them we realised how much the magic of Tiroler Hut lay in the community.

One of the more tragic moments in the wake of the fire was Josef realising that his beloved instruments (including those famous cowbells) were locked in the basement.

We plan to open an interim Hut and are fundraising to buy Josef new instruments, some lederhosen, and various bits like pictures for the walls and wooden decorations for when he returns and would appreciate any help you can provide.

We will also be pulling together a book of memories for Josef as a way of (hopefully) buoying his spirits and reminding him of how much the Hut meant to everyone, so please do continue to send stories and pictures to the Hut account so that we have plenty to work with.
