I gotta get this off my chest!~  

Hey everyone. I'm Tiraj (a.k.a TJ). I'm a trans-masculine Afro Latino person. My pronouns are he/him & they/them. I've been taking testosterone since February 28, 2020 and I've been the happiest I've ever been since starting this journey.

After meditating on this extensively + heavily, I've decided I want to get top surgery. However, I don't have insurance (which is something I'm in the process of looking for). I'm a licensed master social worker (LMSW) + work as a full-time therapist.  My life has mainly been about serving others, which I do passionately + willingly, and I struggle with receiving myself but I know I can trust the Universe + leaning on my community for this assistance. A down payment is usually required to secure a surgery date. The down payment amount my surgeon is asking for is 50% of the $10k they're asking for. If you know me + some of my past experiences, I've been pretty vocal about my severe illness anxiety and the medical trauma I've endured at the hands of non-Black medical professionals in the past. So to be mindful of my own mental health as well, I'm really taking my time with this and don't have a particular "deadline" to reach my funding goal. I believe in Divine timing and trust that when I am able to raise enough money, then that will be time, and see this as an opportunity to continue practicing patience.  

The only real prison is fear, and the only real freedom is freedom from fear. This surgery will not only provide me the freedom to be my authentic Self- but the freedom from past medical traumas in general + reminding me of just how resilient this beautiful, trans body is. Freedom from my own self-limiting beliefs. Freedom from others' illusions of what this body should or shouldn't look like. Freedom from these breasts serving cis men + others more than they have ever served me directly. Freedom being bodily autonomy and being able to have control over what happens to this body for once in this lifetime.
