Tonic Bartender Relief Fund

Hello, Everyone,

I am Paul Jonas, the owner of The Tonic Tavern. I've been in the bar business for many years, and I've known some of the bartenders at The Tonic for decades. A couple of my bartenders were there the day we opened!

Over the years, The Tonic has won many accolades, and it’s mainly due to the staff. In doing so, we have amassed more than 5000 Facebook friends, which gave me the idea: “why shouldn’t I think that ‘on average’ we could expect a dollar from each of them?”  Hence, if each donor gave a dollar for themselves and the friend(s) they sat with over the years, the goal of $5000 could easily be achieved.

Like so many other establishments, the mandatory Coronavirus shutdown at The Tonic has left my staff in a very tough spot. They all depend on the gratuities they would normally receive on a day to day basis. If you’re reading this, it’s likely you’ve been at The Tonic with friends sharing a drink with Leo or Chris or ‘Karla with a K’ during a Sunday matinée; tossed one back with our newest member, Holly; frequented trivia, a DJ set, or a great live event with Josh and Lauren; or sang karaoke with Dave (or one of his frequent subs, wink); and who hasn’t been PK’d by Paul ‘PK’ Kennedy?

With all of this extra time in quarantine to ponder, I'm hoping you'll take a moment to reflect on your fond memories shared with your favorite bartender, dig into your virtual pocket and toss a crumpled bill or two across the pine.

100% of the proceeds of this fundraiser will be divided among my very close knit staff to get them through these trying times. Thank you in advance for your compassion and support.
