TIOGA “TUNES” IN TOGETHER FOR FIREWORKS
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic The Northern Tioga Chamber of Commerce has had to cancel plans for the Newark Valley Summerfest this year. However, we would still like to put on a fireworks show on July 25th at dusk, but because of the virus situation we have been unable to conduct our normal fundraisers. We ask for your help by donating through this GoFundMe page. Your support can make it possible for us to present a fireworks display for the community. We are trying to raise $5,000 by July 1, 2020.
The fireworks will be set off on Cooks Hill on property owned by Ed and Holly Hollenbeck instead of our normal venue, the Trout Ponds. From this location people can see for miles around, watching from their front porches or their backyards. We encourage out-of-towners to come to the village and watch from their cars at the Trout Ponds or the High School, keeping in mind the social distancing regulations.
WEBO radio, 1330 AM out of Owego "Your Hometown Station," will accompany the fireworks with patriotic music, so bring your radio or listen from your car!
The Newark Valley Fire Department will be on Fire Watch Duty.
Thanks to the Hollenbecks, the Newark Valley Fire Dept, WEBO Radio, and you, members of the community, for your support of this project. Please donate whatever you can, then come out on July 25th and enjoy the show.
