Tina Abbaszadeh Medical Fund

This GoFundMe is now a fundraiser to help Tina pay her bills during a very trying time in her life, beset with serious medical issues but persevering.  Over the past month certain medical concerns that Tina has been grappling with have greatly increased in seriousness and come to a head.  She is  faced with several debilitating medical conditions that have not yet been fully diagnosed and she is taking heavy duty  medications to control the most severe symptoms .  More medical tests are planned with a good possibility of surgery being necessary in the near future.  Compounding all this are serious and very expensive dental issues which need to be treated ASAP.  Tina has been instructed by doctors to take at least two months off from work while everything is being diagnosed and treated.  This is a best case scenario.  In fact, depending on the outcome of the tests, this could become a long term disability situation. 

Following is the narrative I wrote about Tina when this fundraiser started out with the intent of getting her a camera.   Money is now needed for much more immediate and critical purpose... but the following information about Tina remains the same.

Who among us does not love and appreciate Tina A?  I am creating this GoFundMe page along with Tracy Turner-Pain to provide an opportunity for us to give back to this selfless world class friend who gives and gives and gives some more with never an expectation of anything in return. Lets take a moment to consider what Tina has done for our Bay Area music community and beyond.

Tina perceives needs and meaningfully responds to them. She is a go getter and a doer, always working for positive change. For instance, after hearing about several musical instrument thefts, Tina didn’t just express her sympathy, she created and continues to actively moderate a FB page clearinghouse called “Find My Gear California” where people can post pictures and information regarding stolen instruments, getting the word out immediately and facilitating the recovery of some of these instruments.

Tina is dedicated to the Bay Area music scene and to musicians of our area and beyond. She has frequently volunteered for causes that assist musicians in obtaining health care and being able to obtain free testing for common health issues at various music events. She is particularly interested in encouraging Hep C testing and has already received grateful thanks from people who are now getting treatment due to her efforts.

Tina has volunteered with the Golden Gate Blues society for years and now serves on the board. She updates us all on the diverse music scene around us via her FB posts and her entertaining and informative “Tina Time” video episodes on Facebook several times a week, infused with folksy enthusiasm and interesting anecdotes. Her sincere and infectious enthusiasm captivate and uplift us as individuals and a community.

Perhaps Tina’s forte’ (among so many) is photography and videography. Have you ever seen Tina recording at a show with a camera in each hand, creating both pics and vids simultaneously? She is a marvel to watch engrossed in her avocation. Who among us does not enjoy Tina’s frequent live stream quality broadcasts from myriad musical events? Who does not relish seeing her phenomenal photographs, crafted with love, creativity and expertise? Tina also uses her computer graphics abilities to create amazing posters for musicians and events, usually at little or no charge. All of those things are pure acts of love, and they are always works of art due to her creativity, expertise and the pride she takes in them. Tina also is known for capturing the music appreciation community through her legendary selfies, often encompassing dozens of people. She does all that in the spirit of love and friendship and community building.

Tina is one of the biggest hearted people I have ever met. She goes out of her way to accommodate traveling musicians who need a place to crash for the night (or two or more) or who need rides; She brings together people for Thanksgiving and other occasions, she cares deeply about issues that affect the common people, not only of our community, but also the world. She is always proactively dong something to help, to raise people up ... whether it is one homeless woman in front of Club Fox (gave her a gift) or groups of displaced or oppressed people for whom Tina will tirelessly advocate. Tina will always find the time in her busy schedule to reach out to people and let them know she cares and is there for them.

Tina is a positive, upbeat, funny, wise, magnanimous, helpful, hugely talented, intelligent, insightful, endlessly giving person we are all fortunate to have in our lives. In the challenging world we live in, she is a beacon of light and grounding for so many of us … just a wonderful, deserving, generous member of our society who lives to make the world a better place in so many ways and to celebrate the best in every person She lives her life with so much integrity and is a precious gem in our midst.

That said, Tina is also a person who needs our help. She has risen over many obstacles in her life but continues to have serious financial obligations despite the fact that she works at least 4 different jobs (one of them full time), money is very tight for her.  Whether you know Tina personally or not, if you have enjoyed/ appreciated any aspect of the many things she does with her limited time and money to help our community, our world and so many individuals among us with her kindness, positivity, creativity, generosity, I hope you will consider donating anything you can to help her in her time of need.
