Tim's Accident Recovery Fund

Donation protected
Sunday, July 16th, 2017 will be a day that changed our family's life forever. Husband and father Tim Zenil fell victim to a tragic car versus motorcycle accident that very well should have ended his life on the spot. While traveling home through Milwaukee from the Windy City Smokeout in Chicago, through no fault of his own, Tim was struck from behind by a car traveling erratically at a high rate of speed. Both himself and his motorcycle flew into the air on impact. Tim traveled through a bush and skidded across the ground, landing 50 feet away from the initial crash site. His bike traveled an additional 50 feet past him and crumbled to pieces. The driver of the car who struck him went on to take out four cement pillars and two brand new cars in an auto dealer parking lot, pushing them back a few feet.

Tim sustained several injuries from this accident. Being hit from the left side, his entire left leg shattered. He also sustained an injury to his neck which cause his neck to become misaligned. Additionally, he suffered two thoracic fractures in his upper back. Tim's head smashed the pavement causing a massive concussion leading to brain swelling and bleeding. He is currently being treated at Froedert Hospital in Milwaukee, WI. Tim spent a few days in the ICU before being transferred to the trauma center. Within this past week and a half, he has gone through five leg surgeries already where they put rods, plates and pins in place of his shattered tibia and broken femur. He will need to undergo numerous additional surgeries to repair the broken bones and torn/dead muscle and skin. He also underwent neck surgery to remove a disk and realign his neck by fusing the surrounding two vertebrae together. More surgeries may follow. As of now, the two thoracic fractures in his back will hopefully heal on their own with time. Until then, he will be in a chest and neck brace for months to reduce the risk of him becoming paralyzed.

It is unsure if Tim will ever be able to return to work or do the things he loves like riding motorcycles, working out and hunting to name a few. There is a long, hard road to recovery ahead for him that requires a lot of strength, effort and time. Tim's quality of life and life in general will never be the same, but he is still here with us and that's most important.

The driver of the car has been taken into custody and charged, but has no insurance on his vehicle. The lack of insurance by the individual who caused the crash, coupled with the hundreds of thousands of dollars in medical bills from Tim's surgeries and rehabilitation process is putting a real heavy financial strain on the Zenil family.

Anyone who knows us knows it is extremely difficult for our family to make our situation and struggles public, but we are in desperate need of prayers, support, and funds to get us all through this devastating incident. Any contribution, great or small, will help ease our financial burden while Tim starts his road to recovery and is greatly appreciated. After all is said and done, the bike can be replaced, but we are truly blessed Tim's life was spared and we thank God every day. Feel free to share and we thank you for taking the time to read our story and reach our goal.
