Timor-Leste Easter Floods Disaster Relief

We are raising money to purchase food, basic supplies and temporary shelter to those affected by the devastating floods and landslides in Timor-Leste that started in the early morning of Easter Sunday, 4 April 2021. 42 people have been reported to have died. This figure could be higher. Many are missing. Over 8000 people are reported to have been left homeless, without food, medical supplies, shelter, clothing and are extremely vulnerable. Religious organisations, Government buildings, schools are being used to house them. The government is providing humanitarian assistance to those affected, with the support of the community and NGOs.  An active Covid community transmission outbreak in Timor-Leste had the country in complete lockdown when the floods occurred, an additional risk for first line responders and threat to community health.

This disaster is unprecedented, worst flooding in memory.

Cash will be distributed through Veterans Care Association direct to Australia/Timor-Leste Veterans Friendship Association, controlled by our most trusted friends amongst the most senior Timor-Leste Veterans. We have successfully completed many projects together with our brothers and sisters from the Timorese veteran community - we can act fast and have the trust, relationships and support of local authorities and organisations providing support, such as church missions.

In support of direct medical relief money raised will be donated to trusted, respected and highly capable local medical NGO, SABEH, who have outreach to the most remote parts of Timor-Leste. http://saudebaemahotu.org/

Thank you in advance for your contribution to this cause. There will be no overheads with these funds other than transfer fees. We will add photos of the aid response from monies raised. As soon as the money can be processed and withdrawn in Dili it will go straight to proving aid to the most vulnerable. The

All donations above $2 are tax deductible and receipt is provided immediately via email. No donation is too small. Thank you for your compassion, solidarity and support.
