Timmy the Tumor Eradication Fund
Donation protected
In January of 2013, 5 weeks after our 6th child was born, doctors diagnosed my husband Jarret with a soft tissue sarcoma in his right thigh. Since then we have been following an aggressive treatment plan to eradicate the large tumor, whom we've named Timmy to bring some humor to the situation, which has included 6 weeks of radiation, surgery, and shortly 12 weeks of chemotherapy which will include stays of several days in the hospital for four cycles. Jarret has always worked hard to put food on the table, a roof over our
heads, and clothes on our backs. He has often said that he would pick
cabbage to provide for us if necessary. Jarret has been passionate about his teaching career for 16 years and spent summers and holidays doing odd handyman jobs to pay for home and car repairs, family trips, braces, and sports and dance lessons, and dental and vision necessities. I have stayed home to take care of the house and children. Fortunately our insurance through the school district is excellent and has so far covered all of Jarret's treatments. But while he is undergoing treatment he is unable to do any of his extra work and I am unable to work my Mary Kay business at a level that would bring in enough money to replace Handyman income. Meanwhile, the outside expenses of treatment are adding up - copays, gas to pay for trips to and from the hospital which is an hour away, parking fees and meals for us while there, medicines, alternative therapies when indicated, childcare and household help, as well as the usual expenses which come with a home and family as I mentioned. Many of you have asked how you can help, and have sent meals, spent time helping with mowing and housework, and there have been many anonymous donations of wood for our furnace, meat for our freezer, and grocery and gas gift cards. We have been so grateful for all of these. But the need continues. Rather than ask friends to hold a big fundraising event, we thought we would give you all a chance to simply help our family through this site as we focus on keeping life as normal as possible for the children and allowing Jarret to focus on treatment and healing.
