Delvon's Story

Donation protected
"Two and half years ago, my son, Delvon Crawford, was diagnosed with an extremely rare form of cancer called spinal anaplastic ganglioglioma. He was treated and during the course of his treatments he received surgery, physical and occupational therapy, and radiation. Devon responded very well for a while. This was such a difficult time for us but we were thankful that he made it through.

Four months ago, Delvon was rushed back to the hospital in which we were told that the cancer returned and has now spread to his brain. Our son is 22 years old and my husband and I were told by the doctors that there is nothing more they can do for him. We were and still are devastated. He is now home on hospice with me (his mother), his dad, and four siblings. My son is dying and everyday my heart aches with pain seeing him slowly decline before my eyes… our eyes.

I look at my granddaughter who shares his same smile and big beautiful eyes, and my heart breaks for her. She is just three years old and has very limited time with her dad. Delvon is loving, caring, and has such a great sense of humor. He loves spending time with his daughter, listening to music, watching and playing football and basketball. He has the biggest heart with the prettiest eyes that will make you fall in love with him. He asked me… “Mom…why me?”

We know that our time is limited with him and therefor, we make the most of each day that GOD gives us with him. This whole nightmare has drained my husband and I physically, mentally, and financially."
