...i had a plan & it was working and then - well..

I had a plan, we had a plan -- and it was working. But then life kind of knocked me to my knees -about 5 years ago. My neck needed to get fixed - medicine today is truly amazing - but it's costly. We covered it with savings and then some on credit, thinking this was just another back operation and I'd be back to work in no time. It took awhile longer than I expected. I had to learn to walk again - that evolution of just standing and being able to stand and then walking - a walker, to canes, to a single cane - and actually going where you intend to go....and all the while learning to use my hands again - to write, to draw, to paint.... carrying a half gallon of milk was an accomplishment and hard, but things got better. I got back to work and we got going again - for a time anyway - and then not - it kind of fell apart all at once....and now the bills are due and work is illusive, the house is our last asset and we need to cash it out and hope for the best in whatever the future holds for us. 

A living wage job seems to be more of a pipe dream than a reality in this wonderful place that we've called home for decades. But, there is always that hope. Yes, I am looking for work, I'll send you my resume. We've had wonderful jobs, they got us where we are. It's a wonderful place, and I'm really sad that I'll have to move from here. We've contributed wherever we can, and taken part in this community and beyond - helped where we can, when we can...so with that as a backdrop, I have years of deferred work to get done on this wonderful home and what I've called my own yard -that small piece of ground, with my gardens and flowers and the birds and animals we share it with... 

But to the point - we really need your help, please. I'd rather sell you a painting or a drawing -dpbennion.com, but your support by any fashion would be so greatly appreciated at this time. We need to get the work done on this house, and then we'll need to sell it as soon as we can. We've run out of resources and money, well, we are about to...we are literally counting pennies to get by right now. Asking is rather humbling, and I don't do it lightly - I should be able to do all this on my own - and I have, but now I haven't been able to - I'm working hard on this and I'm doing all I can with what I have, everyday. That half gallon of milk is now a 100# sack of cement and it's still just a hard...Anything you can give will be appreciated more than you know - really, anything. Sharing this request to people you know that might be willing to contribute would be a big help too.


I'm left to beg, borrow, or.....well, i refuse to steal....I keep telling myself and my wife it's going to be OK - but we're living on a hope and a prayer.....
