Time for Bernadette

Our sister, Bernadette Rettig Fryman was diagnosed with a 6cm aortic aneurysm in September.  She flew to Memorial Hermann Heart and Vascular Institute of Texas Medical Center in Houston Texas (from Grand Rapids, MI) where a top specialist is located.  The surgery was originally a two-part surgery, coming back to Houston in a month.  However, due to many complications, she has had a total of five surgeries and ended up staying in the hospital in Texas from 9/30/2020 to the present!

Bernadette will be returning to Grand Rapids, hopefully this week (@11/05/2020) and going directly to Spectrum Hospital for further medical evaluation.  From there, she will go to Mary Freebed Rehabilitation Hospital in Grand Rapids for @ three weeks or more.  She lost one kidney, and will need dialysis.  She is down to 98 lbs.

Her husband Jack has been staying in a hotel to be near her the entire time.  He is the only person who can see her due to Covid.  The hotel, food and flight expenses have reached over $10,000.00 already.  We are anticipating additional expenses from the doctors, hospitals, and flights.  Bernadette will need a medical transport flight from Houston to Grand Rapids.  Bernadette is covered by Medicare, but no other insurance.

Please find it in your heart to help Bernadette get through this long, devastating medical journey.  Her son Jeff and grandson Landen miss her and want her to get well.  Her family wants her well too!!
