TiMband for Baby Drew

Hello and Thank You for taking the time to read our page - we are raising funds to be able to get our sons Plagiocephaly treatment. ( flat head syndrome) As he is almost 8 months we are nearing the limit to when this treatment will work effectively. Like any parents we want our son to be happy and healthly-now and in the future. I will add a bit about the treatment further down. We have an appointment on the 8th of feb where we will need to pay the £600 deposit (full treatment cost is over £2000 with added fees n costs for all correspondence to our GP) - Until the deposit is made ,Baby Drew wont get his much needed TiMband fitted -the longer its delayed the harder it will be for the treatment to work effectively . My son who is almost 10 will be doing a sponsered swim to raise funds for his brother. We will be organising a fun day to raise much needed funds too. We are hoping to be able to raise funds in as many ways as we can. We would be so grateful for any donation given - everything adds up! Also to share our sons story would be a great help too! Any funds that we do not use towards baby Drews treatment will be donated to the 'Alfie fund' the money will be held in the fund for any families who may need financial support for their baby's treatment. Thank you. (NHS do not fund this treatment) Flat Head in Babies A simple definition of flat head syndrome is that your baby has a head shape deformity, either to the back or side of the head. At about eight weeks of age, you’ll notice that your baby’s head seems slightly wide, or that an ear is pushed forward on one side, or that the brow is more prominent. There are many different words used to describe the different types of head shape that can be presented in clinics. Plagiocephaly (play-gee-oh-kef-alley). This is the most common type of flat head syndrome and it describes an asymmetric flattening to the side of the head. Brachycephaly (brake-ee-kef-alley) This is a wide head shape which can be very flat all across the back. The head can be very high at the back and the forehead may be very pronounced. Plagiocephaly Helmets "A plagiocephaly helmet is an advanced cranial remoulding treatment to effectively treat moderate to severe cases of flat head syndrome. Technology in Motion have developed the TiMband which is made to exact model of the baby’s head shape. This is then modified at regular intervals throughout treatment to gently bring about correction as the head continues to grow during the early months of a baby’s life. The TiMband is made by highly experienced orthotists who make all the necessary modifications and oversee the technical staff in the initial manufacturing process." - technology in motion (TiMband) How do flat head helmets work? "Every plagiocephaly helmet is custom-made for using a safe photographic scan. Once we have taken the scan and the paperwork is completed, we send this to the manufacturer who quantifies and modifies the head shape using CAD (computer aided design) software which allows growth within exactly defined limits. We don’t stop growth, we allow it to occur where we want it to be so that the head shape reforms towards normality. This modified head shape is then carved and the TiMband is made over this modified shape." - technology in motion (Timband)
