Tilly's vet fund II

Donation protected

Hi Tilly friends! The little lady had a scare last week. Please know that she seems to be okay right now.

On Wednesday night (01/15/2020), we heard loud noises from the family room, and found Tilly experiencing a huge seizure. It lasted for about a minute, then she came to and began meowing in confusion, then exploring the house as if she did not know where she was. Given our experience with her a year and a half ago , when she entered a cycle of seizures that occurred every 2 hours, we sprung into action and got her to an ER vet as quick as we could. As we were checking her in, she began to drool heavily from her mouth, which in the past has been a sign of an oncoming event. The ER vet switched into preparation mode and got her set up for catheter medication. It was a good thing they acted so quickly, as she had a big seizure at the clinic, which required two doses of anticonvulsants to stop. They had us leave her there for 24 hour observation. We worried all night, but the next day got good news: there had been no more seizures within the window.

Tilly has now been diagnosed with idiopathic epilepsy. This means they do not think there are any secondary causes (such as toxins) for the seizures, as her blood work/metabolic panels were clear, but rather that it is a condition that she has. Cancer was not mentioned, and we feel it is not very likely since she went a year and a half between the events. She was prescribed preventative medication which we give to her by pill twice a day, and will have a follow up in 3 weeks with her regular vet (appointment is already booked for February 6). The ER vet did mention that we may want to have an MRI done in the future to determine the cause, so we will update with her regular vet's recommendations. This has all been very frightening, and we are so glad that as of now, she seems to be okay. (Knock on wood!) We hope that things will continue to be okay.

Unfortunately, this has again struck at a very tight time in our lives; Tilly's dad-hoomin is in the midst of a career change and is waiting to hear back on his many applications. Her mom-hoomin is employed, but ended up spending all the regular bill money, which we use to keep Tilly fed and cozy, at the ER vet. The total spent was $1095.62 (itemized receipts available).

If any of Tilly's friends would like to help us out, we would be eternally grateful. If funds are raised beyond the total above, we will hold onto them for a little while (depending on what her regular vet recommends in terms of further tests at the Feb 6 appointment); if she does not end up needing them, then said extra funds would be donated to her shelter of origin, Purrfect Pals , in the name of Tilly’s friends (just like last time), so that it can help other kitties in need.

Thank you for all the love you give our little Tilly friend. It warms our hearts to know that so many people care about her! We will keep you updated. <3
