Tigger's Feline Kidney Disease Memorial Fund

As we recently lost our beloved Tigger to Feline Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) (also referred to as Renal Failure), is our goal to raise awareness of CKD. An alarming one out of three cats suffer from this terminal disease, it is one of the most common causes of illness and death in cats, especially in older cats, and there is currently no cure. We feel with strong research, more proactive emphasis with veterinarians, and more public education, hopefully the disease can be caught early. We would like to ask to help us donate to the Foundation For Feline Renal Research and their current studies, with hopes to be able to better identify at-risk cats leading to earlier disease detection, improved clinical care and treatment, and better quality of life.
The Foundation For Feline Renal Research, is dedicated exclusively to the understanding and treatment of feline kidney disease. They are highly committed to funding only the very best kidney disease research that will have the most impact on feline health and well-being. In honor of Tigger, we are fundraising to help support cutting edge research and for the best evidence-based humane research being performed by academic veterinarians who are standouts in the field. The Foundation For Feline Renal Research screens potential grant recipients with great care, and pledges that they will not fund any research that harms animals. To date, they have conferred $21,500 in grants, and they have just pledged an additional $67,000. This is just the beginning; research requires patience and persistence, and there is so much more to be done in the quest for better treatments and ultimately, a cure for Feline CKD.
