Tiger Wrestling Club

As many of you know, this week has been a very stressful and traumatic one for our university and community. On Tuesday, March 28th, Iowa Wesleyan University's Board of Trustees unanimously voted to close the university effectively on May, 31st. Iowa Wesleyan had been established for 181 years.

Just last week, we established a Tiger Wrestling Club through USA Wrestling. Our mission was to raise money in support of our athletes that have World and Olympic aspirations. After the sudden closing of Iowa Wesleyan, we lost funding for these events because we are an out-of-season sport. With only two weeks left before departing for Spokane, Washington, we are looking to raise funds to help support our athletes on these upcoming trips.

In just three years, the program has risen to the top quickly. Athletes feature Adaugo Nwachukwu who is the defending U20 National Champion at 62KG. Adaugo went on to bring home a bronze medal for Team USA at the World Championships hosted in Bulgaria. Joanna Vanderwood is a returning U20 All-American at 57KG and will be competing again this year. Mia Palumbo is also registered at 50KG. She is a 2X NAIA National Runner-Up and previous double Fargo champion.

We are asking the community and wrestling community to help us fundraise $10,000 in efforts to support these athletes' goals of representing the USA at the World Championships. Every dollar raised will go towards helping these athletes pursue their wrestling dreams. There are a lot of unknowns and added stress to our athletes during these tough times but this fundraiser can reduce a small percentage of that stress. We greatly appreciate any and all support.
