On Friday, May 21, 2021, we were headed to bed when we heard a set of crashes. We went out to find both of our parked vehicles had been hit. A young man speeding along 27th had swerved to avoid a car on Howard St. and hit Tiger's car first, which was smacked into August's car. Then the driver hit two other parked vehicles. Miraculously, the driver and his passenger walked away from the accident. Yay for crumple zones! They stayed at the scene, and we waited on the police, took many photos, and shared insurance info around. Eventually we went to bed, only to wake up and deal with our insurance company.

As you can see, the blue 2007 Honda Fit took the brunt of the blow. The damage to the red 2015 Honda Fit, August's current car, was minor, and has already been repaired and returned to him. The blue Fit was August's first car. Tiger learned to drive in the 'Little Blue Car of Justice', renamed Suzie after a bombproof quarter horse that Tiger had growing up. Tiger bought Suzie from August in 2016, and it became her first car. Suzie was reliable, roomy like a Tardis, has been on MANY adventures (nearly 250K miles), and even after being hit, she still started up. Suffice to say, we are both sad to see that Suzie is likely never galloping again.

We're still waiting on the final say from the insurance company, but it is pretty evident that Suzie will be a total loss, and that leaves Tiger without her own vehicle. While she managed well enough in the past without one, the last five years of being able to get wherever, whenever has been a quite enjoyable freedom. Tiger's long term plan had been to upgrade to a larger vehicle for better business and people hauling, and to make long business trips more comfortable. (Suzie would have been gifted to a young person in need of an old Honda beater!)
The past 14 months have seen vending events canceled, including the 2020 season of MDRF, and while Tiger has maintained some online sales, this is not a great time to suddenly need a new vehicle. This GoFundMe is to gather some extra funds towards a down payment for a new-to-Tiger vehicle. The bigger down payment she can put down, the more affordable monthly payment she can secure. Tiger's had her eyes on small SUV's over the past few years, contemplating cargo space for the business, comfortable space for the humans, gas mileage, and more. Whatever vehicle she ends up with, Tiger will drive it for as long as it viably runs!
Whatever extra funds that can be raised towards a down payment at this point are super helpful, and will assist Tiger's vehicle budget. If this GoFundMe raises more than the goal, any additional funds will be either applied towards the down payment, or put in savings for any future vehicle maintenance, repair, and insurance costs. Given the uncertain nature of artist income in times of pandemic and economic recovery, literally any little bit will help!
