The House We Lived In Short Film

Donation protected

Welcome!
Hello! We are the student filmmakers of the Fiction Film Capstone class at Michigan State University and we have been working hard for the past 6 months on our movie, The House We Lived In. Production is over and we have packed away our cameras, but there is still so much work to be done in Post Production. Which is where your support comes in.

What is "The House We Lived In?"
The House We Lived In is a short film conceived and produced by the Fiction Film capstone class at Michigan State University. The House We Lived In follows a young girl after the recent passing of her father while a strange presence threatens her home.

Who We Are

We, the crew that made The House We Lived In, are students from Michigan State University enrolled in the Fiction Film minor. This film was made as part of our capstone class, the highest level class you can take in our field. We come from a variety of backgrounds and majors. For some of us, this was the first time we made a movie of this length and scale, and for others it's our latest and greatest film. Regardless of experience, however, is the desire to make The House We Lived In one of our crowning achievements in college and to show this film to everyone!

What We Need
Financing the production was no small feat. We had to have funds to feed crew, rent lighting and camera equipment,  and buy props. We got most of our funding through MSU in the 1st semester to pay for this "production phase" when we were on set filming. But now that production has ended, we need additional funds in order for this film to be given the proper marketing, premiere, and distribution that it deserves!

We set out to make The House We Lived In back in September with the understanding that this wasn't just a class for us. We wanted to make something that we could truly be proud of and that we could show for years to come.

Over the course of making this movie, many of us realized our own personal connections to the movie. The House We Lived In has a very important story that we feel needs to be told. It's a story about loss, and dealing with that loss, and told through the eyes of a thirteen year old girl.

When our Director yelled "Cut!" for the last time, when our DP looked up from his camera, when our audio mixer took off his headphones, when the AD set down her schedule, we realized that we did it. We made this story about loss, a reality.

However, we need to spend money on all of the following things:

-Hiring composers for our film.
-Renting out a theater for our premiere.
-Film Festival Submission fees and materials
-Marketing materials
-And much more!

How You Can Help

To this end, we need your help. We have calculated that we need 2,000 dollars in additional funds to give our film the best possible chance of success. Any amount of money you decide to donate is greatly appreciated and we have different goodies and souvenirs for our supporters to show our appreciation.

The actual making of the movie is done, so you can rest assured that your donations will not be made in vain for a movie that never gets made.

2,000 dollars is the minimum amount of money we need to make the premiere and distribution of this film possible. But should you donate even after we hae made our goal?

Of course! Because this is a class, we are strictly non-profit. Any money that is left over after we have spent it on necesseties will go towards the next year's class so they can have money to make their dream film, just as we have!

Other Ways to Help

In addition, there are other ways to help. Please feel free spread the word about our film and how to support this! Mention us to your neighbors, your classmates, your co-workers, your family, the person in line next to you at Starbucks.

Of course, please feel free to share us on social media.
