My mother, now a three-peat cancer survivor, is a woman of incredible strength. At age 45 and again at 51, she crushed cancer, but not before it took both of her breasts. Nonetheless, she entered the ring and reigned victorious TWICE over this devastating disease. This time, she's in the ring for good.
In March, 2017, Dawn Meyer was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, a blood plasma cancer. This time, her opponent won't be knocked out completely. This time, she's lost more than her breasts or her hair.
In December 2017, she was brought to the brink of death as her entire immune system was eradicated. She was given a "new birthday" as she walked out of the hospital on December 18th after a two-week stem cell transplant treatment. She survives again this third time. For the moment, her opponent is knocked unconscious. But this time, Dawn isn't able to get out of the ring and move on with her life like before. Multpile Myeloma has no cure.
Cost of treatments are piling up and financial aid is scarce. Due to the side-effects of MM itself and her treatments, Dawn has lost her ability to run their small business which is their primary source of income. Disability payouts pale in comparison to a real income. Between mounting medical costs and major loss of wages, EACH MONTH, this fighter and her care-giver husband face a $2000 deficit.
Forced to ask for help, Dawn and Kip reluctantly agreed to let friends and family, and any other generous soul, support them in this fight. Reaching our goal of $12,000 will give them 6 months of emergency help as they continue to find ways to reduce costs and find financial aid.
