Three Rivers Theatre Company

Donation protected
For many years I had a dream of starting a community theatre in a small town, similar to the one where I grew up. Since my husband Donnie and I had been longing for a change, last July we moved to Harriman, a town in rural East Tennessee, and began the Three Rivers Theatre Company.

With this community theatre, we not only provide performance opportunities for the community, but also theatre education for children and adults.

Our first community production, AND THE MOON STAYED (which was a world premiere of a new script), featured a cast made up entirely of people from Roane County and neighboring Cumberland, Anderson, and Morgan Counties. While preparing for the production, we  also began conducting our first round of acting classes: "Broadway Kids" (for six to ten year-olds) and "Intro to Acting" (for children ages eleven to 18).

Our most recent production, THE BEST CHRISTMAS PAGEANT EVER, included a cast of six adults and 17 children from Roane, Morgan, and Rhea Counties. On our opening day, we were blessed by the opportunity to perform in front of more than 600 area school children!  (We graciously acknowledge and greatly appreciate the generosity of the City of Harriman and Harriman Parks and Recreation Department for making these school matinees possible and for their partnership with us in our educational endeavors.)

WE NEED YOUR HELP to continue to provide an outlet for creativity, artistic expression and growth for Roane County and East Tennessee. In 2020, our hope is to produce no less than six shows, with two of those featuring casts made entirely of children. We are increasing the number of classes we are offering as well as adding adult acting classes. We are providing a variety of other offerings like Mask class, scene study, college audition monologue and song prep, and acting for the camera.  We will also be doing a series of staged readings of works by Tennessee playwrights.

Your financial support provides materials for the classes, including: items like paper, pens, markers, mask building supplies, props, monologue books, play scripts, etc. It may also allow us to offer stipends for professional instructors.

On the performance side, your donations will help with needs such as props, costumes, sets and building materials, and the big ticket items: royalties and venue rental.

We believe the arts serves as a catalyst for economic growth in rural areas. The beneficiaries of the growth will be the people of Harriman, Roane County, and East Tennessee. We would truly like to play a signifiicant part of bringing that vision to life by bringing people together at the theatre .
