 I'm a mum of three, living in the UK, and I'm one of the friends helping Col and Anthea with this fundraiser.

 Some of you reading this will know Anthea well. Others might be meeting her story for the first time. Either way, I want to tell you a little about her — because it says everything about the kind of person she is.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 <strong>Three months - That's all that stood between Anthea and a twenty-year cancer‑free celebration.</strong>
</div>
<div>
 However, unfortunately Anthea now has to fight cancer for the second time.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 We've found a way through that could spare her the hardest version of it — and we're asking for help to reach it.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 In 2006, aged 36, Anthea was diagnosed with breast cancer. She got through three surgeries — a lumpectomy, lymph node removal — chemotherapy, and radiation. Then she went back to work, and she kept going for twenty more years.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 In July 2026, three months short of that twenty-year milestone, the cancer came back, and Anthea &amp; Col were preparing to leave their current location in Penang and head back to Australia for major surgery — a full mastectomy.
</div>
<div>

<div>
 Since then, something changed. After a great deal of medical advice and searching, we found another path: a minimally invasive procedure called cryoablation, which freezes and destroys the tumour without removing the breast.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 For Anthea, it means the possibility of avoiding major surgery and a long, brutal recovery — and getting back on her feet far sooner.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 There is of course a catch, and it's why we're here. The treatment isn't available to her locally in Australia, and it isn't covered by their current health insurance.
</div>
<div>

 To get the treatment, Anthea has to travel to a specialist hospital overseas, pay for the procedure in full, and fund years of follow-up care afterwards — medication, scans and specialist reviews stretching over the next decade. It's a lot, and it's arrived all at once.
</div>

 <strong>WHO ANTHEA IS:</strong>
</div>

 Anthea is a Registered Nurse of 35 years. She holds a Bachelor's
</div>
<div>
 and a Master's in Nursing. She has worked the floor in Emergency as a senior nurse. She has run specialised mental health and addiction facilities as both an RN and a Centre Manager — the kind of work most people can't do for a year, let alone a career.
</div>
<div>

 For the last eight years she has done something else entirely. Anthea teaches specialised Medical English — reading, writing, clinical communication — to doctors and nurses around the world. Many of them are working in under-resourced hospitals with brilliant skills and no pathway out. She helps them pass the exams that let them practise in the UK, Australia, the USA and New Zealand. She has done this for an enormous number of hours and a very small amount of money, because she has never once been able to look at someone who needed help and walk past.

 She is Colin's wife of 30 years. Ashleigh's mum. Natasha's grandmother — Natasha is 13, and thinks the sun rises and sets on her nan.

 She is 56 years old. She is not done.

 I met Anthea in Penang; we formed a friendship over a period of time, and I discovered just how beautiful a person she truly is.
</div>

 At a time when life had become genuinely hard for me. She didn't just offer sympathy — she opened her door. She gave me and my young daughter a place to stay when I needed it most, no questions asked and nothing expected in return. That's simply who Anthea is. She shows up. She helps. She did it for me, and I know she has done the same for so many others over the years.

 That's exactly why, when I heard what she and Col are now facing, I wanted to do something. So I've stepped in to help run this fundraiser — to look after the day-to-day side of things, so Col and Anthea can put their energy where it matters most right now: Anthea's treatment, and each other.
