Thor is our boy, our beautiful American Staffy...
Anyone who knows Luke and I, know just how much our dogs mean to us... Thor and Vie are our furbabies!
Yesterday morning (02/01/2015) Thor was rushed to the emergency vet because his back legs had swollen up and he couldn't walk properly.
After doing some blood work we were told that Thor's blood protein level had dropped severely low and fluid was draining from his blood stream into his legs. I was a mess...! How could our boy be so sick? The vet had said we weren't to know because there were no outer symptoms but Thor was in a lot of trouble and needed to be taken in straight away for more tests.
The initial treatment was a feeding tube to get some high dose proteins into his system. But at 11 o'clock last night we got a call to say his protein levels had dropped again. He went in straight away for a blood transfusion to try pump up those levels. This morning, his levels had increased by 4 points but they are still less than half of where they should be...
The first 24 hours has cost us just over $4000.00, with $1500.00 per day after that - at a minimum... at the moment we are looking at about $7000.00+.
But our boy is worth EVERY penny.
Luke and I are a young couple and I'm sure as everyone can appreciate, after Christmas and New Year the bank balance is not as plump as we need! We are also saving for our wedding this year and have used what savings we have had, to get our boy back to health.
Our other baby girl, Vie, is beside herself - waiting at the front door for Thor to walk back in...
If anyone could help us with a small donation to get our boy back home in time for his 5th birthday on 08/01/2015 we would be forever greatful...
