Read the article about this project in the local paper the VC Reporter here: https://tinyurl.com/VCReporterThomasFireTY. Thank you all who have donated so far!!

On December 4th, 2017 the Thomas Fire started. It wasn't 100% contained until January 12th, 2018. It's considered to be the second largest fire recorded, and the seventh most destructive in California's History. it burned 281,893 acres, destroyed 1,063 structures and damages 280. It took the life of one citizen, and Corey Iverson, a Fire Fighter out of San Diego.

My family and I had to evacuate for a week, but luckily our house wasn't directly in the line of fire, and we were so grateful to have a home to come back to. However, after seeing all of bravery and heroism shown by all of the first responders of the Thomas Fire I decided to start this project.

I began the Thank You Cards for First Responders project a year ago after the Thomas fire. I have been partnering with local businesses, event organizers, churches, schools, and teachers to host thank you card writing pop-ups. Over the past year, I have collected around 700 cards. I obtained an official Mutual Aid list from The California Office of Emergency Services from December 16th, 2017. I took that list and compiled a spreadsheet counting all of the individual agencies, departments, and stations which amounted to around 1,000. My goal is to collect 1,000 cards and send out one card each to all of the individual agencies who came to help. I have the means to get envelopes and label each of the cards, but it is going to cost around $550 to mail out all 1,000 cards.

I am asking you to donate whatever you can so that I am able to mail these cards out to brave men and women who put their lives on the line every day. $5 will allow me to mail out 10 letters, and all of the money I receive will go directly to paying for postage. I would love to be able to send out these letters ASAP because it is during the anniversary of the Thomas Fire, and I think the letter will be a lot of Holiday Joy to those who will receive one, so please donate today!
