A Simple Wish For Breath

Donation protected
That breath you just took; that's a gift. A gift I never thought my dad would struggle with. My dad went to get his normal physical in May of this year. They had been keeping an eye on a nodule on his lung for a few years and just did their routine check. After getting the results he was told the nodule was okay but that they had found two other spots and wanted to do a biopsy. The results of the biposy were Stage Two Small Cell Lung Cancer. He started his first round of chemotherapy and radiation on June 1st. He would continue the chemo for six rounds with radiation twice a day lasting for 30 Days. After these first rounds of chemo and radiation he developed a pain in his groin area. He went to have it checked out and found out it was a cyst, as a side effect of the chemo, and had to have it surgically removed. He then was hospitalized for a week in recovery. When he was done recovering from that he had his next PET Scan to see how and if the chemo had worked. Unfortunately it had moved to his lower spine and pelvis and was now Stage Four. They gave him three months to two years to live. No one ever wants to hear of a loved one getting sick especially with the dreadful "C" word. We knew we all had to be strong and be there for my dad as much as we could. He is currently doing more rounds of chemo and we're hoping for the best. During all this his diverticulitis flared up and he had to be hospitalized for three days. His son; who has a rare heart disease called Marfan Syndrome, is also back and fourth to Chicago for doctors appointments. https://www.marfan.org/about/marfan All this is causing stacked up medical bills and much stress for my dad. I know any amount of donation or even sharing his fund will be greatly appreciated. My dad was a Marine straight out of high school and served our country for four years. He then went right into the Labors Union for five years to become a Union Carpenter for 25 years; local 599 in Hammond, Indiana. He has a loving family, including twin Granddaughters who adore him more than anything. We are hoping to raise money for his accumulating medical bills and his regular monthly bills. My dad never asks for anything so I'm doing it for him. A dad is someone who wants to catch you before you fall but instead picks you up, brushes you off, and lets you try again. Now it's my turn to pick my daddy up and brush him off and tell him he's going to fight this cancer and stay strong! My family and I want to thank everyone in advance for any contribution or share. We will be having a benefit for him this coming January as well and would love anyone to attend. More details to follow as things progress.
