Thomas K Hogan Scholarship Fund

Donation protected
In memory of Thomas all donations will go toward a scholarship in Thomas Hogan's name for a Davis High School graduate on the Track and/or Cross Country Team.

We are saddened by the unexpected loss of Thomas Hogan last Friday while attending an indoor track meet in Idaho.  As friends of the Hogan's and part of the Davis High Family, specifically the Davis Track/XC Family our hearts hurt.   Our son, Elder CJ Rees, currently serving in Mozambique, Africa, loved Thomas and was saddened by his passing.  He asked us to do all we can to honor and celebrate his life.

Elder Rees sent us this message:
"I knew Thomas really, really well.  He was like a younger brother to me.  I use to drive Thomas home from practice everyday and pick him up in the morning sometimes... because his house burnt down and they moved near by us.  We would always chill in the locker room together and just talk about life, school, running, and lots of stuff.   He also loved to play basketball with us.  Please tell his family that he was a quality kid and a great friend.  Everything I remember about him was good. "

DHS Track & Cross Country Coaches thoughts:

"Thomas was an incredibly kind kid who loved being with his teammates.  He was hard working, passionate about running, and always had a positive attitude.  He was a great example and a great teammate."
                                          - Coach Corbin Talley

"Thomas was a coaches dream. Not because he was the fastest kid on the TEAM, but because of what he gave for the TEAM. Thomas always had a smile on his face and the driest of jokes ready to put a smile on your face. Thomas reached out to the new kids on the TEAM and made sure they felt welcome and were cared for. When we hosted meets, Thomas always did his job and probably 3 or 4 other kids jobs as well, whatever it took. Thomas was the ultimate teammate. He trained hard, he raced hard and when he wasn't racing he cheered hard. It was an honor to have coached Thomas."
                                         - Coach Markham Hyde

"We are heartbroken by the passing of Thomas Hogan. Thomas was an incredible young man. He had an incredible attitude and worked so hard to be the best runner he could be.  We learned that Thomas only had 60% lung capacity, which (I think) was the effect of his early surgeries.  Not only did Thomas run 19:16 (6:12/mile) in a 5k at Bob Firman this year, he ran 5:21 in the mile his junior year of track - basically on one lung.  I am grateful for the opportunity to have known Thomas. His legacy and memory will remain in the hearts of all who knew him. "
                                        - Coach Paul Timothy

Our hope is that together we can do something to honor and celebrate Thomas' life.  Thomas was a wonderful young man who lived his life in a way that others were inspired by and simply were better because they knew him. We invite the Davis High Family and anyone  who is willing to join in honoring Thomas to make a donation towards the THOMAS K. HOGAN SCHOLARSHIP FUND.  We hope that his family will feel the love, support, and strength of all of us during their journey ahead.  We love Thomas and know that his legacy lives on...
