Three years ago, I was a healthy vibrant woman. I soon came to find out that this was far from the truth. In July of 2014, I got the most devastating news in my life when my doctors told me the cancer I had had advanced to stage IV and had metastasized throughout my body. Treatment held one disappointment after another. There were five different cancer-killing medicines available that promised effectivness with my type of cancer. Each treatment was more heartbreaking than the next. I had life-threatening adverse reactions with three of them and two of them were completely ineffective.
In my research, I also discovered a disturbing statistic. Eighty-nine percent (89%) of cancer victims end up financially devastated within 2 years of a cancer diagnosis. To make matters worse, when I got this news I had very recently separated from my husband of 33 years. I could not even count on the loving emotional support of a person with whom I had spent most of my adult life. So take it from me, the 89%-thing is true.
To this point I need your help! If you could find it in your heart to help with a contribution I promise to put it go good use to help with medical expenses, doctor's appointments, transportation (not able to drive), copays for treatments, prescriptions, etc., not the least of which to include food and rent. Come November 1st I will be evicted and will become homeless. Every time this realization crosses my mind, I become so fearful I can hardly feel the pain that wracks my body. I am alone and as far as family, I have no aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, or nephews. My parents are both deceased. I only have one brother who is disabled, and I took him in! So, please, if there is any contribution you can make that will help me, I will be eternally grateful.
