PC Beats Breast Cancer

Donation protected
We are a team Think Pink, a group of motivated young adults who are striving to end breast cancer one survivor at a time. We have three members on our team: Liam McHale, Vinny Desharnais, and James Nazzaro. In one of our business management classes at Providence College, we were asked to create a fundraising campaign for a charity of our choice. The decision was easy for us; breast cancer has affected all three of our team members directly. James' mother, Amy, has battled breast cancer twice, Liam has a sister who is currently battling cancer and Vinny has unfortunately lost loved ones to this terrible disease. Our goal is to raise awareness and money to help women, men  and families touched by breast cancer. That is why we partnered up with the Gloria Gemma Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing free services to individuals and families affected by cancer in our local communities of Rhode Island. We need all the help possible to make a difference, and to do so we need YOU. Any donations will help, whether it is clothes, financial or spiritual support. Please, let us all come together to help the ones who have to live with this stressful and emotional illness. Your support is greatly appreciated as you help us make the world a better and healthier place.

We have planned some amazing events to help drive our mission forward. Last Saturday we ran the Gloria Gemma Chuck-A-Puck at the Providence College Friars Mens Division 1 hockey game vs Umass Amherst. Fans from around New England and other states came together to buy pucks to throw toward center ice during intermission. The puck closest to the center ice face off dot won a pair of Boston Bruins tickets that were donated to our cause for the prize.

On December 5th we will be hosting an event in the rink where we will be inviting the community to come listen to speakers who have dealt with breast cancer tell their stories. This summer a memberof the Providence College woman's ice hockey team, Clare Minnerath,  was diagnosed with stage three lymphoma. In a recent interview with Clare, we learned that after practice she felt a lump on her neck and believed that she had got hit by a puck. The athletic trainer sent her to the hospital for further examination. It turned out it was cancer. She underwent 9 chemo treatments and an extreme amount of physical therapy and training to be able to return to playing the sport she loves. This season (2019) the lady friars are off to an outstanding 10-2 start with Clare as an active member of the their roster. With no hesitation, she has decided to join our squad and help us put and end to cancer for all. Clare is an amazing human, teammate, and family member.  Her drive to return to her teammates for this upcoming season is what carried her through such tough times. We would like to make our donation to The Gloria Gemma Foundation on Clare's behalf, to honor her battle, strength, determination, and loyalty. Most importantly, her life. We are inviting members of both the men and woman's ice hockey teams as well as other athletic personnel and faculty to come listen to her tell her story and raise awareness. Tickets are $20 and the event will be held at Schneider Arena on December 5th, 2018 from 4:30-5:30pm. All are welcomed and if you're in the Providence area please come show your support. If you can't make it, please donate to our page. All proceeds from the events and funding page will go to the Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource Foundation which can be viewed below. There will be food, drinks, raffle prizes, and inspiring speeches from cancer survivors. Help us make the check that will be made out to the resource foundation in Clare's name, as large as we possibly can!

Thank you.
