Bob's Thailand Mission Trip

Hey friends! I’m really excited to share with you some news about where I’m going this September. I’m headed to Thailand! I’ll be leaving on September 3 for a ten-day mission trip with Eastside Foursquare Church. Let me tell you why Thailand and why I need your help.
Thailand is a nation with amazing beauty and cultural contrasts all presented with the famous Thai smile. Yet behind those smiles, the Thais are a spiritually broken people. Thailand is only 1% Christian. This brokenness combined with rampant poverty has created a culture where children pay the price. Children are trafficked into prostitution throughout the country where sex tourism is a booming industry. Young boys and girls are forced into child labor where they are often abused. To cope with their pain, these children turn to drugs. Illegal drug use is now in every primary school.
This is why Foursquare missionaries Gary and Paula Hays, launched thinkSMALL. The thinkSMALL Foundation trains and empowers the local church to reach, protect and disciple children to a whole life in Christ. They use Gospel based Drug Prevention and Child Protection outreaches and curriculum to bring children to an empowered life in Christ. Since 2008, 90,000 children have received Jesus through thinkSMALL ministry and 85% are being discipled.
We’ll be seeing thinkSMALL in action. We’ll be encouraging their Thai staff, visiting schools and churches in four cities and seeing thinkSMALL outreaches firsthand. We’ll witness the Gospel changing lives and children transforming a nation.
My first position in ministry was as a Children’s Pastor. So this is very close to my heart. I expect to see painful, heart-wrenching scenes. But I also expect to see signs of hope and evidence that God is mightily at work bringing freedom to children, empowering them through Christ, and transforming them into leaders who will change Thailand and Southeast Asia forever.
I want to go there to see this ministry in person and to encourage and build up the thinkSMALL staff, trainers, and local Thai pastors. But to do that, I need to get there. And to get there, I need your help to raise $2500.
