Emily Lee, Breast Cancer Warrior

On December 20th, Emily went to her doctor with pain and swelling in her breast. Within days, she was diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma, and HER2 positive (which is bad). Emily is only 36, and has no family history of breast cancer.
Now, days after Christmas, Emily is still undergoing more testing - not having all the answers just yet. What she does know is that this cancer is big and invasive. Her treatment will last at least a year, and begin immediately. The doctors have told her that she needs a mastectomy, she will lose her hair and energy, and be ill as a result of her treatments. This all seems daunting to her, but she has the hope and the support of family and friends.
Emily has a beautiful family with her husband, Jason. He and their three children are her rock and inspiration to fight. She has always provided strength and hope to the people around her. She has a huge heart, and is a source of positivity for so many. Emily has been, and is, so many things to so many people - wife/sister/daughter/ mother/aunt/friend/ mentor/entrepreneur/ positive influence/role model/comic relief/rock/light-hearted force. Her local “tribe” has been with her for several years and genuinely love her. She created that; she makes people love her just by being herself.
Emily is an incredibly talented, self-employed photographer. She will not be able to work steadily. The family needs support financially to help replace her income. Despite having basic insurance coverage, there will be unforeseen costs, as well as everyday expenses.
Emily is optimistic and hopeful, and she is trusting in her faith for guidance and support.
She is ready to kick cancer’s ass.
