Hi my name is Danielle. My 14 year old son sadly passed away on July 1st 2021 due to a type a aortic dissection. Aortic dissections are very very rare in children. This was so unexpected my boy was healthy and happy and it didn't make any sense. Here in the UK my son underwent some genetic testing and he was tested against 40 known genetical conditions including connective tissue disorders and everything come negative. I was told by his surgeon and geneticist that in his 30 years of being a surgeon he has never seen this in a child so young. Him and the geneticist told me they don't know why my son lost his life and may never know. I just couldn't accept this, no parent would. So I've decided to start a charity up in my son's memory to raise awareness, to educate people in aortic dissections. In these short months of losing my son I have managed to enroll his DNA on to a research programme with The university of Texas health science center of Houston. The project is called " genetic basis of aortic aneurysms and dissections " this study is being conducted by Dr Dianna M. Milewicz,M.D, Ph.D she is the president George  H.W Bush chair of cardiovascular medicine, director of the division of medical genetics and vice chair of the department of internal medicine at the university of Texas  health science  center   at Houston.  This research study has been reviewed by the committee for the protection of human subjects (CPHS) of the university of Texas Houston health center. The purpose of this research study is to identify the genes that when altered, lead to aortic aneurysms and dissections. We need to raise £5000 to show the charity commission that I have some funding behind me to get this charity up and running. I can not sit back and do nothing it's so important we get the charity up and running and most importantly with knowledge more life's can be saved. Anything will be greatly appreciated what can be donated. I put £6000 as that will cover the charges taken. Thank you so much for taking the time to read and kindly donate if possible . The funds will be used to run our first campaign "THINK JORDAN" to raise awareness of this life threatening disease,and to get it in all uk hospitals for signs of an aortic dissection anyone with any heart problems or sudden onset of severe pain need to be educated what to look out for so no other family has to go through what me and my family are.
