Help create The Tinkle Drum!

Help create People-Powered Music aka The Tinkle Drum: a highly interactive art structure or 'muziek doosje' (music box) that people walk inside to create music.

 
We intend to share this piece at Burning Man, regional events, and for it to live on near Amsterdam. This year residents were asked to contribute ideas for public spaces and buildings, and next year new design/renewal plans/art projects will be shared.

Creating sustainable art

The Tinklers are collaborating with the Green Theme Camp Community to develop a unique model to calculate our carbon footprint (or carbon tinkle). We have two points of focus for 2022:

a) reduce art carbon transport emissions
b) reduce embodied carbon with recycled art materials and efficient sourcing and human power!

The GTCC Transport & Emissions team will apply BLAST CO2e models developed for last September's MediMeisterschaften event, Kiwiburn, and Waking Dreams. The goal is to offer these models to other artists too.

What is the philosophy of the piece? 
In commercial society today there is this growing idea that music is created by the few, the fortunate, for the many. This piece aims to challenge this.

While the line between music as art and music as commerce has blurred, making art and music can be for—and by—us all.

A note on de-commodification, not for profit:

This art is not about profit and will not turn a profit, nor will it be used to financially benefit an individual or organization. Money raised will go to materials, renting warehouse and building space, tools, shipping, storage, transport, logistics and making this dream a reality.
