The Tankard: Raising Up an Island

The Tankard, is a bar/restaurant located in Chicago's growing neighborhood of Wicker Park. Owners Robert Colón, Philicia Mizell, and Patrick Wrona have joined forces with Caritas de Puerto Rico to raise funds to create comprehensive care packages for the victims of Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico. This is an endeavor near and dear to Robert Colón's heart as his family has roots in Caguas, Puerto Rico.

The Tankard has enlisted the assistance of Madeline Figueroa, retired Program Manager for ADP and event planner. Madeline has over 30 years of experience organizing and implementing programs/events throughout the U.S. and is passionate about the success of all projects but none more than this one, as she was born in Caguas, Puerto Rico.
The donations received will be used to create the care package you see below which contains supplies that can feed a family for upto a week, along with a case of water.
Each 12"x12"x6"box contains: 5lb Rice, 6 cans beans, 6 cans soup or Chef Boyardee, 2 cans Spam, 2 cans Corned Beef, 3 cans of Tuna/Chicken, one box of Sazon and bottle of Adobo and 6 protein bars. (Avg. $30/box)

Caritas de Puerto Rico, a Catholic non-profit organization located in San Juan, Puerto Rico, has demonstrated its exemplary capabilities of distributing what is needed to those who need it most. http://caritas.pr/
We will be collecting funds through Friday, November 10th, 2017. Upon closing the funding, the team will immediately begin purchasing the items needed for the boxes. We have volunteers from a local Chicago Church, El Taller del Maestro, that will be providing assistance in the packing of the care packages, which will be accompanied by hand-written notes of encouragement and prayer.

In addition to the GoFundMe efforts, The Tankard has committed 100% of the proceeds collected at a Special Event to be held on Thursday, November 9th from 6PM tp Midnight at the The Tankard located at 1635 N.
