The Sensory Project

Donation protected
More Than Words Pediatric Therapy and Leadership Lowndes Class of 2014 are seeking donations towards the installation of a Sensory Integration Room.

Language production is one of the most challenging tasks that we ask our brains and bodies to do. Language is the result of the sensory systems working together so the thinking parts of the brain can work well. Some children produce more language when they have movement opportunities that are just right for their body. That might mean gently bouncing on a sit ball, rocking in a rocking chair, or using a “fidget” in their hands. Others may utilize sensory supports to calm their systems. Examples include using breathing toys or games intermittently, performing heavy work on the way to the language-based activity, or providing listening input in the background to reinforce language sequencing. Even though language is hard, it is the most important part of what More Than Words Does. We would ask all those who visit this page to prayerfully consider a donation towards our Sensory Integration Room (dubbed the "Sensory Project" for short). Your contributions will help to give all the precious children who enter this space one of the greatest gifts of all, the gift of language.
