These Kids Have Skills, Need Help with the Bills!

Donation protected
In early May, four Sun Prairie students earned their place representing Wisconsin at the National SkillsUSA Leadership and Skills Conference. This year's contest is in Louisville, Kentucky from June 24-28. The local Sun Prairie chapters of SkillsUSA are raising funds in order to help ease the financial burden on families.

Why support these outstanding students?
Registration cost is $982 per student, and families have to finalize their payments by May 31. This is the first year that Sun Prairie has been able to send middle school students to Nationals...and we are sending three! We also have an artist who designed the  trading pin representing Wisconsin at this year's event.

Donations will help finance: hotel costs, an event shirt, conference registration, event tickets to Louisville Bats and Kentucky Kingdom, and a delegation breakfast. Excess funds raised will help pay for official SkillsUSA blazers shared between all Sun Prairie SkillsUSA chapters.

What is SkillsUSA?
SkillsUSA is the official United States representative for the biennial World Skills International. This student-lead organization serves middle school, high school and college students. SkillsUSA is open to any students pursuing careers in trade, technical, and skilled service occupations. As an organization, SkillsUSA empowers students to become world-class workers, leaders, and responsible citizens. Student members work hard to improve personal, workplace, and technical skills throughout their school experience.

Meet our Representatives
Kira, a junior this year, entered a design to be considered for this year’s state trading pin. Not only did her design win at the state level, it will also be the trading pin that Wisconsin competitors will wear as they compete at Nationals this year! Kira has been an active member since 2014. This is Kira’s first opportunity to attend Nationals for SkillsUSA.

Ella & Jake, both 8th graders, were part of a 3 person team that won gold in Team Engineering Challenge. The team worked together to improvise a solution to their assigned problem, then present their design to a panel of judges. Neither student has been in a contest that is allowed to attend Nationals until this year!

Kat, also 8th grade, won silver for her woodworking project. As an active supporter for all SkillsUSA members, she has agreed to join Ella and Jake as their third team member for Nationals. This is Kat's first opportunity to attend Nationals for SkillsUSA.

Please consider supporting
All four of our representatives are excited and ready to compete at the national level. They have put in long hours throughout second semester in order to ensure their success at State 2019. Above all, they are excited to create memories that will last them a lifetime. They thank you in advance for your assistance and support!
