Jonathon and Nikki Romain are  turning the old Greeley School, a 45, 000 square foot building, into a community arts center. In turn, those artists will teach various forms of art to individuals in the community. Some of the most crucial hours in young people's lives are right after school. We want to fill those hours with fun, creative, productive and educational programs. For many of these children this will be their first introduction to the arts. We are hoping it will be as transformative for them as it was for us. After Peoria was ranked #1 on the <a href="https://247wallst.com/special-report/2017/11/03/the-worst-cities-for-black-americans-2/2/">247WallSt.com website</a> list of the “worst” cities for black Americans, We believe that repurposing Greeley school in a community arts center will provide a beacon of light and hope to a community that's often overlooked. Help us make an impact! JONATHON ROMAIN BIO: Jonathon Romain is a nationally known artist who has owned an art gallery for over twenty years. His art has been seen on television, in magazines, and museums. In addition to his artistic accomplishments he is a prolific speaker. She was selected to perform with the well-known Chicago Praise Ensemble and toured throughout Northern Italy. Nikki has performed in musicals and theatrical productions across the country such as, Little Shop of Horrors, The Wiz, Godspell, Steel Magnolias, For Colored Girls, and Shoe Story.
