Meet Me at the Edge of the Edge of the World

Every year, Enso Theatre Ensemble chooses a student to direct and produce their own show, mentored by Enso’s Artistic Director. This mentorship explores theatre through ensemble based learning and wellness. This year, that student is me, Parker Callais. I am using this opportunity to learn and grow as a theatre artist, and experiment with theatrical work and direction. I've chosen to direct a new play, "Meet Me at the Edge of the World" by Michael Lushington.
ABOUT THE PLAY:
After the death of his sister, Arden, Winston finds himself in a car crossing the country with his friends: a ticking time bomb, an open book, a determined pessimist and a hitchhiker that throws a wrench into the plan.
This play is a funny, heartfelt look into what it means to let go, and how growing up changes us. We are going to explore how we deal with hardship, and how our challenges define us.
This play is very exciting for me to be taking on right now. The idea of starting a new chapter is prominent in this piece, as well as in the lives of my peers and myself. We are taken through traumatic loss and heartbreak to the freedom and terror of choice. We are given multi-dimensional characters written for teens, with real teenage problems in mind. In this show, we see people on the cusp of change. In our lives, we are people on the cusp of change. This is why I love this show.
