Therese's Funeral & Life Expenses

Donation protected
On December 25, 2017, Therese Sliwinski passed away after putting her best foot forward in battling a very aggressive form of brain cancer. Therese was a kind person, who will be sincerely missed by her family and friends.

This GoFundMe was created to assist in paying for the medical bills and funeral expenses in support of the loved ones she left behind.

Her husband, Tony Sliwinski, has honored her and her story with the words below:

"On Christmas Day, my wife passed away from cancer. The last three months were some of the hardest of her life - multiple surgeries, many sleepless nights in the hospital and probably a hundred doctor visits.

Therese will always be remembered as a person that didn’t succumb to the fear of cancer; but as someone who stayed strong through some of the hardest conversations anyone would have to have with a Dr; as a fun, loving, short-fused fire cracker that stood against inequality, never let any aspect of her life kneel to adversity and as someone that was passionate about helping the less fortunate. She used to come home with the left over trays of food from work, package them up with a few water bottles and drive around finding the homeless and needy to pass them out to on hot summer days. She was in the beginning stages of starting drives for feminine products so that underprivileged women in our area could have access to free, quality products to make their lives easier. She was a dog lover, a picky eater and loved the Real House Wives (but who doesn’t).

But cancer did not win the war. Her blood will be used in research to try and find key markers to detecting this cancer early, her eyes will be donated to someone that will hopefully be able to see their kids again or to see the world for the first time and her story will be something everyone can remember and learn from.

If you ever suspect something is wrong with you and you disagree with your doctor, GET A SECOND OPINION. It’s ok. Question every aspect of their decision making and justification for a diagnosis. It’s your life, respect their role but be a bull, don’t stop until you figure out what is wrong with you. Take the time to research and learn about your body. Don’t be worried about embarrassing yourself in front of any doctor or nurse. Sometimes they are wrong, they are human. Listen to your body.

Most importantly, she would have been an incredible mother. She loved kids and one of the only things she wanted out of life was to raise a family. While we tried for over a year, it wasn’t meant to be."
