<div>Mein Name ist Magdalena Laskawy und ich bin alleinerziehende Mutter von zwei wunderbaren Kindern – Melanie (2015) und Alex (2017).

<div>Alex wurde mit einer seltenen genetischen Erkrankung geboren, dem sogenannten CHARGE-Syndrom.

<div>Nach seiner Geburt wurde bei Alex eine Vielzahl schwerwiegender angeborener Fehlbildungen diagnostiziert, darunter:

<div>– ein komplexer Herzfehler (TAC 1A, VSD, ASD)
</div>
<div>– Lippen-, Gaumen- und Kieferspalte
</div>
<div>– Atresie und Unterentwicklung der hinteren Nasengänge
</div>
<div>– Schädigung der Sehnerven (Kolobom)
</div>
<div>– Hörbeeinträchtigung, Speiseröhrenreflux und Hodenektopie.

<div>Von den ersten Momenten seines Lebens an kämpft Alex ums Überleben. Die Ärzte glaubten nicht, dass er die Geburt überstehen würde. Er verbrachte Monate auf der Intensivstation und unterzog sich mehr als zwanzig Operationen – darunter einer offenen Herzoperation, Bauchoperationen sowie Eingriffen, die ihm beim selbstständigen Atmen und Essen helfen sollten.

<div>My name is Magdalena Laskawy, and I am a single mother of two wonderful children – Melanie (2015) and Alex (2017).

<div>Alex was born with a rare genetic disorder called CHARGE syndrome.

<div>After Alex was born, he was diagnosed with numerous serious congenital defects, including:

<div>– a complex heart defect (TAC 1A, VSD, ASD)

<div>– a cleft lip, palate, and gum
</div>
<div>– atresia and underdevelopment of the posterior nasal passages
</div>
<div>– damage to the optic nerves (coloboma)
</div>
<div>– hearing impairment, esophageal reflux, and testicular ectopia.

<div>From the very first moments of his life, Alex has been fighting to survive. Doctors didn’t believe he would make it through birth. He spent months in intensive care, underwent more than twenty surgeries – including open-heart surgery, abdominal operations, and treatments to help him breathe and eat on his own.

<div>Today, Alex is a happy and brave little boy, but his development is still delayed – he is at the level of a 2-3-year-old. Every step he takes, every new word, every smile is the result of hours of therapy, patience, and endless love.

<div>Therapy gives Alex a chance for independence

<div>Specialist therapies – speech, physiotherapy, occupational and sensory integration – help Alex improve coordination, communication, and self-reliance.
