The Oxford family (Steve, Debbie, Kaitlyn and Hailee) suffered an overwhelming loss due to a devastating house fire on January 21st 2015. They are obviously shaken to the core after experiencing this traumatic event, as anyone would be. Debbie was home alone when the fire started and thankfully was able to get out unharmed with her purse, the dogs and the clothes on her back. The fire was aggressive and they lost 2 vehicles and 2 motorcycles on top of the damage to their home. They are so fortunate this didn’t happen when they were sleeping or this all couldn’t have ended very differently.
When I talked to Debbie this morning, she said she was so touched by the support and concern she was receiving from family, friends, neighbors, and emergency workers. People keep asking her what they can do to help, but in going through this it is virtually impossible to know what they will really need going forward. I started this GoFundMe account for them today in hopes these donations will ease the burden of the unexpected expenses they will have to come out of pocket for until (When or If at all) their insurance reimburses them.
They have a challenging road ahead of them over the next several months, but this family deserves to be lifted up by anyone willing to pitch in. They are currently being put up temporarily in a hotel until they know their next step. I feel that this would be a good start in helping them through this painful journey of rebuilding their life and home again.
My heart hurts knowing what they are going through dealing with the loss of everything they have worked so hard for to provide to their family. They are definitely blessed in the fact that they have a great support system of family, friends and neighbors that are ready to help in any way we can. I KNOW that God is going to give them the blessings they need to move forward, but that doesn’t mean it will be easy for any of them along the way. Please pray for this family as they start to pick up the pieces and start the journey to rebuild their lives from the ground up. They need peace, comfort, strength and faith to help carry them through this tragic situation.
