Help Our Superhero, Theodore

Donation protected

Meet Theodore, our best friends' soon to be 8 month old baby boy.  Theodore was born on October 31st, the cutest and sweetest baby to Cara and Craig Hutchinson. A few weeks ago the unimaginable happened and they received news no parent ever wants to hear.  Theodore was diagnosed with an extremely rare form of liver cancer called Hepatoblastoma.

First and foremost, the Hutchinson/Minichiello families are grateful for all the love and support they have felt over the last few weeks. During this time of Covid, and considering Theodore’s need for protecting his compromised immune system, it is not an option for us to show up on their doorstep, to offer a helping hand, or give a much needed hug. They have heard all of the prayers, and well wishes and feel overwhelmed with gratitude for the support system that surrounds them during this time.

For those who are unfamiliar with the background, upon a routine pediatrician appointment, some minor concerns were discussed. The doctor was diligent and informed them about a very rare genetic condition that these concerns could be a sign of. One of the symptoms of this condition could be tumors on the liver. On June 2, Theodore's visit to the geneticist confirmed that indeed there was a large mass on his liver. He was quickly admitted into the hospital and after testing, it was confirmed that the tumor is cancerous.

From information provided by the doctors, the Hutchinson’s learned that that this would require several chemotherapy treatments to shrink the tumor to a point where it can be surgically removed. Theodore has completed his first round of chemotherapy which has created additional challenges for him.  It has resulted in some unexpected hurdles and impromptu trips to the hospital to monitor such things as fevers, low blood cell counts, and blood transfusions. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, only one parent is permitted to be with Teddy during his treatment at the hospital, making it very hard on Cara and Craig.

If you know Cara and Craig, you know they are the ones always trying to give back to their community. These last few months especially,  Craig has been working countless hours providing food to front line workers through his restaurant, Olmo. Now they need our help more than ever.

So, as people have reached out offering love and prayers, many have also asked, “How can I help?” and “What can I send?” We have arranged this Gofundme page to provide an outlet for people to send their donations, if that is what you chose to do. This money may go towards hospital bills, takeout meals, groceries, etc.  Really, we just want the Hutchinsons to focus on that little warrior and not have to worry about the rest.

There is no donation too big or too small, they will be forever grateful. Please also send lots of love, positives messages, and prayers as the family needs as much strength as possible during this difficult time. We thank you with love.
