Orphanage for Disabled Boys

Hi all! The year of 2017 was filled with many amazing memories and adventures with God, and even though there are so many stories to tell, I believe that one of the most life-changing moments happened in Moldova. In April, Tudor and I were able to visit Moldova and help children at local orphanages. During one of our visits, we were able to visit the largest orphanage in Moldova that serves children with handicap and physical disabilities. Our hearts were overwhelmed with a desire to help those children. We felt that we couldn’t just be another round of visitors that come by and then never do something about the hopelessness and despair we encountered. We asked the orphanage director about their greatest need. The director, without hesitation, started to share about the bathroom facilities. The building itself, before it became an orphanage, was built as a military unit during the Soviet Union to house soldiers. However, over the years, this military facility was turned into an orphanage because of the great need to house children that were abandoned by their families. As a result, the orphanage isn’t handicap-friendly, and the bathrooms make it extremely difficult for children and staff to use. To give you an idea, the staff must lift with their hands the children out of their wheelchairs, place them on a long table, slide them off the table into an old soviet bath tub, then give them bath, after which they must reverse this process to place the children back into their wheelchairs. This process is very physically and emotionally draining for both staff and children.

As we have been considering more and more the hopeless conditions of these children, we decided to move forward in working with the local orphanage in Moldova and help them renovate their bathroom facility. As we pursue this together, we would like to invite you to become part of these boy's lives and transform their future together.  We are excited for this opportunity to instill hope and joy in the lives of these orphans and would love to extend this opportunity to all whose hearts are desiring to bless these children.  Any great change in this world always comes through small sacrifices offered by many.
