The Little Avocado (aka Gertie) came into the world with a tough condition to overcome: swimmer's puppy syndrome. With constant love from her foster home, lots of veterinary rehabilitation therapy and support from individuals like you she was able to walk again!
Avocado has been a healthy pup until recently. Since February 19, 2018 she has been in and out of the vet including a few trips to her primary care veterinarian, an overnight stay at the ER and a visit with the neurologist. She was unable to walk and had difficulty eating and drinking. After diagnostics it was determined that she has megaesophagus and myasthenia gravis. Last week alone was just over $2,000 in veterinary bills.
Avocado was improving with medication and a new routine for feeding and drinking, but on Monday, February 26, 2018 she had an extremely scary regurgitation episode and was gasping for air which put her back into the emergency room where she has been for the last five days. We are hopeful that she will be released shortly but has already racked up over $8,000 in critical care bills.
Just like she did less than one year ago with the Swimmers Puppy Syndrome, we believe the Little Avocado will overcome the new challenges life has thrown her way and be back to playing with and pinning Josh in no time!
