Cup Match Concert and Fundraiser

The Go Down Berries are looking forward to putting on our family-friendly, floating concert on the Thursday afternoon of Cup Match (August 3rd) for the 10th year in a row.
As getting corporate sponsorship to cover the $1,200 cost of renting a barge (our floating stage) has proved difficult this year (in part because of the focus on AC35), we've decided instead to "pass the hat" and ask those that come out to enjoy this unique event year after year to help make it self-funding. And while we're at it, use the opportunity to raise money for a worthy cause, donating all funds raised in excess of the cost of the barge rental.
The charity we've chosen to support this year is the scholarship program of Waterstart Ltd. Waterstart was started in 2001 by and continues to be run by the Go Down Berries' own JP Skinner, with the mission “to promote environmental awareness and personal growth through hands-on educational opportunities in natural environments”. Waterstart runs outdoor youth education programs focusing on the marine environment. Programs typically involve training in snorkeling, scuba diving, boating, ocean science and marine exploration.
Over 1,000 kids have gone through the program since it was started. 250 of those have been able to attend thanks to the scholarship program. Since inception, Waterstart has provided financial aid so that any keen student, regardless of financial means, is able to attend. Support of this fund helps make the Waterstart experience accessible for all students, and allows them to continue this valuable community outreach. The Waterstart community is diverse and inclusive and the students have come from every local school and many international schools. Waterstart Ltd. is a Bermuda Registered Charity.
