What is The Goddess Mirror Project?
It started as a "photography project" and has evolved into a movement in which women are given the opportunity to see themselves as their highest potential. Whether that be as strength, vulnerability, or grace, each woman has a different experience and a different view of what their inner Goddess looks like.
It is a very intimate and ceremonial photo session started by a grounding meditation and then soul-gazing in order to connect to each other and Mother Earth. This creates a safe space and allows us to see each other through eyes of love. When we decide we are ready, we go for a hike, or walk, and the photoshoot arises naturally. We get to know each other along the way and I must say it is the most beautiful thing to witness a woman unfolding and peeling the layers of old patterns, insecurities and repressed emotions.
After the photoshoot the women get to keep all the images and do as they please with them. I share our favorite ones in the hopes to inspire other women to allow themselves to be seen.
As the divine feminine rises in the collective, I still acknowledge that it will take time and effort to keep spreading the message around the world. There is no need for segregation, we need to stop comparing each other and start lifting each other. And I believe this is my offering to all women AND men, and anyone who wishes to identify with the divine feminine, to remind you to keep the Goddess within you alive.
My vision is to be able to travel to communities where the patriarchal culture still dominates, and to try to bring some balance and understanding of the power of the feminine.
Approximately 60% of the world’s poor are women. Evidence has clearly demonstrated that living in poverty makes women vulnerable to a number of situations that pose threats to her ability to develop and progress as a successful member of society. These situations include involvement in commercial sex work to provide for her family, falling victim to violence, unwanted pregnancy, and a number of health risks, including sexually transmitted infections (World Health Organization, 2009). These same women are often single mothers or “heads of their household”, which translates into increased responsibility to provide for her and her family.
In the Dominican Republic, the situation of women emulates global trends. Commercial sex work is prevalent, especially in the Eastern provinces where tourism has boomed in recent years and 20% of girls aged 15-19 are mothers or pregnant. 30% of women have experienced some type of violence and HIV prevalence among women with no education is 3.7%, compared to a National HIV prevalence of .8% among women of all education levels(Demographic Health Survey, 2007).
Increasing women’s access to education, health services and economic opportunities are of the utmost priority to contribute to the development of local communities in the Dominican Republic.
My goal is to create a platform for women all over the world to share their stories for other women to see that they are not alone, and its never too late to love yourself fully and embrace the Goddess Within.
What will the funds be used for?
Ever since I started this project I promised myself I wouldn't charge the women I photograph for this, but it would consume so much of my time that it started to affect me financially. So my friends encouraged me to ask for support from anyone who feels inspired or connected and wants to be a part of this project one way or another. Besides the fact that it is a big investment of my time, and I can't afford to take time off work, I also want to make this as good as it deserves to be and expand it to other cultures and communities around the world.
Other than my passion for photography, writing and listening to stories, I love to travel and it would be a dream to share this in places where women dont have access to see themselves through a photograph or even to see themselves as a GODDESS.
Every single day I get more and more women of all ages, cultures, sizes, colors asking to participate and it motivates me to keep pushing through the obstacles and the doubts that this is "too big of a task for me". And I realize I dont have to do this alone, and that is why I ask for your help.
Funding will be used for:
-Time (3-5 photoshoots a week, editing pictures & videos, writing blogs, connecting with the women, networking, etc.)
-Materials (Upgrade camera lens, microphones or voicerecorder, camera stabilizer for videos, camera bag, SIM cards, portable hard drive, etc.)
-Travel (Bring the Goddess Mirror Project to communities where the patriarchal culture still dominates; beginning with the Dominican Republic and Haiti)
- Share (Donate 10% of your offerings to a dominican campaign called Yo Me Amo, in order for them to build a website to help support women through free online sessions with psychologists, regarding any self-esteem issues, eating disorders, body shame, post-partum depression, etc. https://www.facebook.com/yomeamooficialrd/ )

Ya sea a través del reconocimiento de su fuerza interna, o de su vulnerabilidad, cada mujer tiene una experiencia y una perspectiva diferente de como es su Diosa Interior.
El proyecto consiste de una sesión de fotos muy íntima y ceremonial. Empiezo guiando una meditación y luego unos ejercicios de mirada a los ojos para conectarnos mutuamente y con la Madre Tierra. Esto crea un espacio seguro y nos permite vernos a través de ojos de amor. Cuando decidimos que estamos listas, damos una caminata o conversamos y la sesión de fotos surge naturalmente. Nos vamos conociendo a lo largo del trayecto y debo decir que una de las cosas más hermosas es ser testigo de una mujer desenvolviéndose y pelando las capas de patrones antiguos, las inseguridades y las emociones reprimidas.
Después de la sesión de fotos las mujeres pueden quedarse todas las imágenes y hacer lo que les plazca. Comparto nuestras imágenes favoritas en la esperanza de inspirar a otras mujeres para permitirse ser vistas.
A medida que el divino femenino asciende, sigo reconociendo que tomará tiempo y esfuerzo regar este mensaje por el mundo. No hay necesidad de segregación, tenemos que dejar de compararnos y comenzar a levantarnos mutuamente. Y creo que ésta es mi ofrenda a todas las mujeres Y hombres, y a cualquiera que quiera identificarse con el divino femenino, para recordarles que conserven la Diosa dentro de ustedes.

Mi primera parada sería a Republic Dominicana.
Aproximadamente el 60% de la pobreza consiste de mujeres. Ha sido demostrado que vivir en la pobreza hace a las mujeres vulnerables a una serie de situaciones que amenazan su capacidad para desarrollarse y progresar en la sociedad. Estas situaciones incluyen la participación en el trabajo sexual comercial para proveer a su familia, ser víctima de violencia, embarazo no deseado y una serie de riesgos para la salud, incluyendo las infecciones de transmisión sexual (Organización Mundial de la Salud, 2009). Estas mismas mujeres suelen ser madres solteras o "jefes de familia", lo que conlleva a una mayor responsabilidad de proveer para ella y su familia.
En la República Dominicana, la situación de las mujeres emula las tendencias mundiales. El trabajo sexual comercial es frecuente, especialmente en los últimos años y el 20% de las niñas de 15 a 19 años son madres o embarazadas. Y el 30% de las mujeres han sido víctimas de algún tipo de violencia.
A través de este trabajo no sólo estoy trayendo conciencia sobre este tema global, sino también dándoles un poco de esperanza, una experiencia de ser vistas sin prejuicios y reconocerlas por su fuerza y persistencia bajo estas circunstancias.
Mi meta es crear una plataforma para que las mujeres de cualquier parte del mundo compartan sus historias para que otras mujeres vean que no están solas, y nunca es demasiado tarde para amarse plenamente y aceptar a la Diosa Interior.
¿Para qué se utilizarán los fondos?
Desde que empecé este proyecto me prometí a mí misma que no cobraría a las mujeres que fotografiara por esto, pero consumía tanto de mi tiempo que empezó a afectarme financieramente. Así que mis amistades me animaron a pedir el apoyo de cualquier persona que se sienta inspirado o conectado y quiere ser parte de este proyecto de una manera u otra. Además de que es una gran inversión de mi tiempo, y no puedo permitirme tomar tiempo libre de mi trabajo fijo, también quiero hacer que esto sea tan bueno como merece ser y expandirlo a otras culturas y comunidades de todo el mundo.
Aparte de mi pasión por la fotografía, por escribir y escuchar historias, me encanta viajar y sería un sueño compartir esto en lugares donde las mujeres no tienen inspiración y perdieron esperanza para progresar.
Cada día más y más mujeres de todas las edades, culturas, tamaños, razas me piden participar y me motiva a seguir empujando a través de los obstáculos y las dudas de que esto es "una tarea demasiado grande para mí". Y me doy cuenta de que no tengo que hacer esto solo, y es por eso que pido tu ayuda.
Tus donaciones se utilizarán para:
-Tiempo (3-5 sesiones de fotos por semana, edición de imágenes y videos, redacción de blogs, conexión con las mujeres, creación de redes, etc.)
-Materiales (Actualización de lente de cámara, micrófonos o grabadora, estabilizador de cámara para videos, bulto de cámara, tarjetas SIM, disco duro portátil, etc.)
-Viajes (Traer el Proyecto Espejo de la Diosa a comunidades donde la cultura patriarcal todavía domina, comenzando con República Dominicana y Haití)
