Jeff is giving a kidney to his wife Shannon to make a better life for their family.
We are raising money for Shannon and Jeff to help while they are both recovering from major surgery and unable to work, any funds raised will also assist with the ongoing medical expenses and medication that go with recieving a new organ.
Shannon and Jeff have 2 young adorable children and on the surface you would not be mistaking to think they are one of the happiest families you have ever seen.
But not everything has been plain sailing for this amazing family....
It all started in 2006...... After being together for two years Shannon, then aged 26, was told she would need open heart surgery to fix her aortic valve. Whilst doing testing they also discovered Shannon had Mesangiocapillary Glomerulonephritis, an incurable kidney disease which would progressively reduce her kidney function until they failed completely.
Shannon and Jeff had to make a decision at the time - if they really wanted to have a family, Shannon would need to receive a tissue valve to replace her defective valve. But this valve would only last 7-10 years at which point she would need a second open heart operation to fit mechanical valves. They chose this option , recovered and had two beautiful children.
Serious complications with their second child had Jeff dealing with the prospect of losing his love, but Shannon is one tough woman. As unfortunately expected, Shannons physical health declined over the years and in 2014 she had her second open heart surgery where they replaced two valves with mechanical valves. Multiple medical appointments each week and some further operations have followed. Her kidneys have held up throughout these tough times, but have now declined to end stage renal failure over the last 12 months.
The prognosis to give Shannon the best chance of a more normal life is that she now needs a kidney transplant.
Throughout all of this Jeff has been on his own personal journey, working hard to be a good employee, dad and husband. Jeff couldn't sit by and watch what was happening to Shannon without doing something - and started a long process of tests and screening, improving his health and giving himself the best chance to help. About 6 weeks ago the news arrived that Jeff was a compatible live organ donor!
Jeff's selfless act to donate a kidney will mean Shannon can enjoy life again and be there for her young children. It won't be a cure; but will significantly improve their life together.
Jeff has been a dedicated employee at Advanced Air Conditioning for over 7 years. Jeff and his family are like family to everyone at Advacned Air Conditioning.
