The Divorce Dress 
The Divorce Dress is a collection of candid stories of relationship endings from across the globe, expressed through photography, poetry, and prose.
“A decade ago, Kay Hansen found her husband’s ex-wife’s wedding dress in her closet, and she didn’t know what to do with it. It hung there for two years. The ex-wife didn’t want it back, so her fiancé suggested eBay…but they were about to find a more practical use.”- Georgia Johnson, Good Times
Here’s what we do. We put you in the dress and listen to your stories about relationships... all relationships. You don’t need to be divorced to be in the dress. We listen to people from all walks of life who are still married, never married, who are a child of divorce, divorced, even those who have never been in a relationship. Everybody is invited to participate! During interviews we photograph and make poetry. These stories, photographs and haikus will be catalogued to create our upcoming art show, and our book The Divorce Dress.
So far The Divorce Dress has traveled across the US, Canada and Central America. Our team, Kay Hansen and Georgia Cantando, have set our sights on Europe, Asia, and Africa to add more global perspectives.
We need your help. March 7th The Divorce Dress will be traveling to Europe, next stop London and Paris! We have discovered that being an artist isn’t cheap!!! Since the beginning of this beautiful project, we have bought photo equipment, paid for travel and lodging, education, printing and have a large dry cleaning bills. For the first time, we’ll need a translator! We still have places to go and stories to gather.
And if you think this is the only call to arms we have, you’d be wrong! We need participants, March 8-11 2019 in Paris and March 11-15 2019 in London to put on this sassy dress and share their stories.
