"To empower the growing art scene in Hull, East Riding and the wider region following the 2017 UK City of Culture, a new artist-led project launched in May 2019 to support conversation and debate about art and visual culture. The Critical Fish is a collaborative and inclusive forum, anchored through the writing about art, that seeks to connect artists, writers, organisations and broad audiences, that is owned and shaped by the communities it involves.
Looking to break down some of the traditional barriers that prevent people from thinking about and enjoying art, we invite people to reflect on their own experiences and topics of interest with a critical eye. Discussions around the key themes of accessibility and criticality are explored in a free publication, distributed in print in the region and online via www.thecriticalfish.co.uk"
This GoFundMe campaign will contribute to the future developments of the project. All monies raised will go towards the production of community-based engagement opportunities (i.e. workshops, podcasts, public art ventures which will engage wider communities in the discussion of art) and/or future editions of The Critical Fish.
