While Theatres Are Still Shut

Donation protected

Hello there, Imogen Heap here. Thank you for stopping by.

With live venues and theatres closed, I now don’t have the income to be able to contribute funding toward The Creative Passport, a non-profit project I’ve been throwing myself into and funding for 5 years. I'm the composer for Harry Potter and The Cursed Child play and royalties are now suspended due to COVID-19.

£20k has been raised during The Gloves Are On : An evening of improvisation at my home piano, along with song requests with MiMu Gloves on for added effect. They streamed between May-August 2020. One lasted for 6 hours! The audience tipped if they were enjoying the show and also paid £100 for songs I've recorded or £500 for a cover. Fans often pooled together, leaving the name of the song and artist in the comments section of their donation along with any message/ dedication to be read out. I covered Fiona Apple, Caroline Polachek, Foo Fighters, Tori Amos, Dancing On Tables, Mika, Kate Bush, Linkin Park and Billsy Bainbridge! Please have a look through. Some lovely ideas came out of the evenings, some birthed new songs I am now working on (a reason why I'm not doing them currently). You can follow that process and support me personally by becoming a Heapster  if you'd like.

Some just tipped because they want the creative Passport to launch its Open Beta by the end of the year, which we are WELL on track for now thanks to these donations and also to winning a grant (more on that soon).

As if all that wasn't amazing enough, the last live stream was dreamed up, curated, performed, edited and mixed by some of The Heapsters. it was 180minute event they wittily named The Gloves Are Off. I had a night off and they raised almost £1k! HOW lucky am I!?

This has led us to think how these events can be further developed to enable other artists to contribute toward The Creative Passport via live concertfundraisers, both in person at the barn at the bottom of my home studio garden, or virtually if London isn't nearby! We'd help organise and promote your event and split the proceeds 50/50. If you are an artist and you'd like to find out more/put yourself forward, please email [email redacted]

it may be time to explain what THE CREATIVE PASSPORT is....

It's a personalised ID for MUSIC MAKERS, where they can ACCESS, UPDATE AND MANAGE information about themselves and their works, and share it with others. This is currently NOT possible at any meaningful level, which is both exhausting and frustrating (ask any music maker).

The Creative Passport makes it possible to thrive in our ever-changing challenging landscape, currently brutally evident. The visibility and accessibility each holder is given, empowers your unique skills, passions and creations to open up and diversify your future of work.

The immense strength in having the global music maker community organised and open for business is going to be game changing.

Of course none of this will happen without adoption and with your support for this essential Music Maker tech, we can take this project public by the end of the year.

Do it for those behind the music you love.

£8k pays for one month of funding and we'll keep this page up until theatres open again.

The team and I are grateful for anything you can give now or via a concert.

Please share this with other music makers, it is for US after all.

Many many thanks,
Imogen x
