The Confidence Project

For those of you who don’t know me personally, my name is Amy Reding. (If you dont know me, that probably means you know Coach Rohrer, which means I think we'll get along.) Or perhaps you know neither of us very well, in which case I’ll give you a bit of a background story. Mostly just because I love stories. For those who do know me well, it means you’ve been a part of my life for a while now, and I invite you to dive deeper into a new exciting season.

I’m going to jump right into this. A few months back John Rohrer and myself reached similar conclusions: that both of us would be a great help to the other. For a long time now, Coach has had the vision to write a book on confidence. He had the dream, the notes, the hours of  teaching material on the topic. He also had yet to find a ghostwriter that could afford to spend that amount of time working on one project.

Enter: me.

Bear in mind that before Coach and I ever chatted I had cut back my hours from my 9-5 job to pursue writing again. I started small, writing little entries that would later become the starting blocks of my blog: theupside-down.com. To my surpise, things quickly sped things up, and I was faced with a miriad of my own fears regarding my future and creativity. I had no idea that 3 weeks later it would lead to a phone conversation in which John asked if I would be the one to write this very book. As Coach and I have dreamed, chatted, and finally stumbled upon the reality that this is really happening, my personal vision for this book has expanded.

To call it a book on confidence is to vastly undersell what this project will be. I called it “The Confidence Project” on my blog because I firmly believe that the stories contained within this book will be transformative. So much so, that there will be a movement spurred because of it. Using the term “Project” for me is an act of faith; it’s a declaration that this book will go above and beyond both Coaches’ highest hopes and mine. I can see this book transforming high school students, college athletes, and families going through relational strife. I really truly believe this message is for everyone.

My good friend sent me the quote the other day, “Make your vision so clear that your fears disappear.” I think I’m finally there.

Here’s where you come in: As much as I wish I could do this alone, (don’t we always) I really can’t. I’m asking for monthly financial supporters as I have stepped back from paid work in order to focus on this book. I can say with all honesty this has not been an easy transition for me in the slightest. Since age 18 I have worked and paid my way through university, travels, and life in general. In classic ‘Amy’ fashion I tried my very best to come up with a million other ways around raising support, but here I am. I’m 100% confident that this book needs to be written. I’m 100% sure that I’m the one to do it. (I’m also fairly certain I won’t be able to write this book while homeless and hungry.)

I’m looking for a few people that want in on this vision. People that desire not only to see me succeed, or John Rohrer succeed, but who want to see some truth in print.

Why is the amount set for $12,000?? Pretty simple really. I am looking to raise around $1000 per month, to cover my basic living expenses as I write the book. I set the goal for this as $12,000 - which is assuming the timeline for this project will be one year. It may be shorter, it may be longer. (This page will be taken down as soon as the book is finished.) Any extra funds raised will be set aside to be used for editing and publishing costs.

I ask that you consider supporting me for the amount of $50 every month, or whatever is managable at this time for you! One-time donations are also very welcome and appreciated.

If you desire to get involved and donate monthly you will become a part of a small group that will receive more specific updates and the occasional “sneak peak” of my side of the writing process.

Thank you for reading, for journeying with me, and for considering financial partnership.

Sincerely,

Amy Reding
