The capstone of six seasons at the Theater at Woodshill!
For two weeks during August 2022, the Theater at Woodshill will present the grandest, most extravagant, and longest-running production in its six-year history—
William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream.
Having launched in August 2016 with the vision to one day produce A Midsummer Night's Dream on the Woodshill farm, the moment has finally arrived to bring this vision to life. Shakespeare's most magical exploration of love, folly, power, and the divide between the natural and man-made worlds, A Midsummer Night's Dream is built to enchant.
The Theater at Woodshill views its 2022 season as a culmination of its first six years in production. In 2022, we pull out all the stops. We will take everything we've learned so far -- having produced Much Ado About Nothing, As You Like It, Hamlet, Twelfth Night, and Mary's Wedding -- and produce a quintessential, high-flying rendition of Shakespeare's timeless reverie.
The Theater at Woodshill intends to generate enough momentum from our Midsummer Night's Dream production to inaugurate a new first-half to the Woodshill season, meaning a non-Shakespearean play to be produced in the June month, to accompany our annual Shakespeare offering in August.
WHY WE NEED FUNDS
As always, A Midsummer Night's Dream will be entirely free to the public, as the Theater at Woodshill believes in equal access to great art for everyone, regardless of money, upbringing, location, creed, or anything else. But, that means that it is extremely important that we are able to fundraise a substantial amount of money in order to appropriately compensate our artists and pull off a comprehensive production.
This year, we are aiming to raise a total of $65,000. We hope that you will help us raise $10,000, to be spent entirely on artist artist lodging for the rehearsal and production weeks.
