Introduction
Welcome and thank you for taking the time to experience a part of my life and passion in learning about myofascial tissue and the vital impact it has in our lives. Please, I invite you to sit back with your favorite pick-me-up and take a little time to explore this journey with me. For the last several years I have performed myofascial therapy on clients of all ages while educating each person on their unique bodily tissue structure so they in turn can discover and self-manage good health. My goal is to raise enough money to finish my education at the Rolf Institute of Structural Integration in Boulder, CO

Background
After having 4 surgeries (between 1973-1984, and several more later in my life), I felt the need to understand my own bodies aches and pains I had endured. In 1986 I met Jim Price, a world-renowned Rolf practitioner and premiere student of Ida Rolf who founded the Rolf technique.

Jim became my Rolf practitioner and took me on a life-changing journey that continues today. My relationship with him has taught me so much about my body and has imbued me with the knowledge to heal myself. While I initially thought that working with him would only result in helping my health, I realized later, that Rolfing is so much more and it is this latter revelation that I want to explore further. I am so passionate about sharing and want to provide you with more information, but feel that this is not the forum to do that....so, please click here if you want to learn more about myofascial structure and health.

Brief History
For the last 35 years, I have worked with various athletics and physical education programs to people of all ages throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. These professional experiences (along with meeting Jim Price) gave me the foundation for navigating the body and developed my interest in furthering my knowledge of myofascial tissue. Thus in 2009 after following though with my commitment in supporting my family we sold the 15 year old business (Morgan Hill Gymnastics Club) to further my studies at the Rolf Institute, while my wife continued to work as a nurse. At that time I felt supported by my family, but by the time I arrived back home, one month later that support was revoked and I was left to start over. I was faced with the painful realization that after spending 35 years in a career that I loved, my knowledge and skills were not certified to my future profession in myofascial therapy. If you’d like to know more, a detailed history of my life and accomplishments are at the very end of this page.

At this time, I have been living out of my van for a 1.5 years as an independently contracted health practitioner without a bank account. This has given me both beautiful learning opportunities as well as many challenges which have stalled seven years’ of prior attempts for me to return to the Rolf Institute. However, this time is different, because I have found the courage to surrender the fate of this attempt and am en route to Boulder, CO by the time you read my story. This is where you come in.

Your contributions will allow me to finish my studies at the Rolf Institute and become a Rolf Practitioner. Here is the breakdown on the expenses I face in pursuing this dream.

Closing Statement
Becoming a certified Rolf Practitioner will give me the opportunity to serve the health and wellness community as a credentialed professional. This recognition will also allow me to contract with allopathic and alternative medical groups allowing me to tap into existing networks of patients and increase their access to Rolfing & structural integration through myofascial therapy. It is my goal to bring myofascial therapy to the front line in keeping the body healthy, while working with mainstream medicine in finding alternative ways to heal humanity and the world, one achy body at a time.

If you’ve made it this far, thank you, Thank You, THANK YOU!!! I’m so grateful that you took the time to read through this brief story of mine and hope that it has inspired you to also explore myofascial tissue and the way it communicates (i.e. tension and pain) to the body. This is such an important step for me and I can only have faith that this community will support my journey! Your donations will be the long overdue catalyst to help me get back on my feet again (pun intended for all you foam rollers).

In good health,
Tharien C. Bramhall

Detailed History
We all have a story, so I will keep this short. My main motivation for pursuing physical health is due to my own, very long list of accidents. The first of which involved getting run over by a car, twice. My doctors and body workers believe that all the injuries, stemmed from the initial accident. Those injuries and surgeries are as follows.

List of injuries
· 1961 – Ran over by a car 2 times, at 9 and 13 months
· 1968 – Fell 15 ft’ flat on back causing a slight concussion
· 1972 – Head on collision resulting in 8 stitches above left eye
· 1973 –  Hip surgery, slipped epiphysis (Head of femur slipping out of the socket) surgery, inserted 4, 5” pins in left hip for one year (1 ½ year on crutches)
· 1974 – Pins removed from the left hip
· 1975/85 – Several wipe outs on skateboard
· 1978 – Fell off trampoline, landed on head resulting in a concussion
· 1979 – Compression hit in while playing football resulting in compressed vertebras (C3-C5 & T3-T8)
· 1981 – Tore R knee medial meniscus during racquetball; a partial meniscus removal
· 1984 – Tore more of the R knee medial meniscus during racquetball; this was also partially removal
· 1987 -  Head on collision in football resulting in, 8 stitches above R eye
· 1988 – Remaining R knee medial meniscus removed
· 1994 – ACL of the right knee was reconstructed; patella tendon graft
· 1995 – ACL of the right knee disintegrated, resulting in surgery to remove debris
· 2008 – Full knee replacement; R knee
· 2008 – R knee, manipulation under anesthesia
· 2009 – Car accident resulting in thoracic outlet syndrom

Despite all of this I still manage to be physically active in many ways regardless of what doctors have told me, by rehabilitating my body from a long list of injuries over the years and learning about myofascial tissue. Throughout my 56 years of life, even though sustaining all these injuries, I continued to put one foot in front of the other and push myself toward evolution.
